The pilgrimage route to Rome was and is known as the “Via Francigena”. Despite its name “The road that comes from France”, it is generally thought to originate in the English Cathedral city of Canterbury. Pilgrims took the journey to visit the Holy See and the tombs of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Rome. The Italian Camino (although it's been around since the Middle Ages). It's an ancient route that runs through England, France, Switzerland, and Italy to Rome. The Via Francigena has experienced a recent revival and is now one of the most exciting pilgrimage trails in Europe.

 

Day 1: Cairo / Milan

Day 2: Milan

Half day guided tour to visit the cathedral of Domo in Milan

Rest of the day free at leisure

Day 3: Milan / Verona Breakfast at the hotel

Transfer to Verona by private bus with guide to visit the Cammino San Vili which is located in Trentino Italy.

Upon arrival follows the route of the Italian saint San Vigilio, who carried Christianity into the mountains from his home base a Bishop of Trento – the capital city of the region of Trentino. The main cathedral in Trento is dedicated to San Vigilio, and he is buried there underneath the main altar. Back to Milano

Day 4: Milan / Rome

A good experience to travel by the superfast train to Rome, during the old times the train takes around 11:00 hours between those two cities, but now takes around 4 hours only.

With your guide you will go through all the parts of the St. Paul Cathedral include the tomb of the popes which located under the church.

Day 5: Rome / Ancona

Transfer by private bus to Ancona

Enjoy the sights during the good trip

Day 6: Ancona / Corfu

Transfer to the port for the ferry boat to Corfu – Greece

Enjoy the coming 11 hours sailing through the Italian and Greek Islands

Day 7: Corfu / Meteora 

Breakfast at the hotel

Transfer by private bus to visit the city of Meteora which they call it “Monasteries hanging in heaven” the biggest and most important group of monasteries in Greece after those in Mount Athos. Includes the church 'Katholikon', The Holy Monastery of Varlaam” The Holy Monastery of St. Nicholas Anapausas.

Drive to Delphi.

Day 8 – Delphi – Athens

Mythic and Spiritual Day  Breakfast at the hotel 

Visit of the archeological site of Delphi and the Museum of Delphi. Delphi was in ancient times as the navel of the world. Pass by Castalia Spring, visit at the archaeological site and view the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the monument of Platea and the Temple of Apollo famous for its oracle and Delphi museum, with it's spectacular exhibits include the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians… 

Afternoon departure for the visit Hosios Loukas Monastery one of the largest in Greece.  Drive to Athens

Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 

 

Day 9 - Athens Sightseeing Cultural and Spiritual Day 

Breakfast at the hotel. The Athens tour starts with a photo stop at Panathinaiko Stadium where the first 

Olympic Games took place in 1896. It is the only stadium built out of white marble. Proceed, passing by

Zappeion and Temple of Olympian Zeus.  You will then pass the Athens Trilogy

Down the Acropolis, visit of Mars Hill (Areopagus in ancient times). It is from this place that St Paul delivered the famous speech "... The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands " (Acts.17-24). 

Continue with a pleasant short walk passing by Herodion and Dionysos Theater and visit the new Acropolis Museum, a prestigious museum where grace embraces the Acropolis undeniably Time at leisure to discover the narrow Streets.  

 

Day 10 –Departure
